Hi Guys. My GF's dad is starting his own company up. After being made redundant. Any way. He's asked me to look into a couple of programs for him and report back. Programs being Microsoft Lync and Micosoft 365. I've had a little look at these but i was wandering if any one has any experiences with them good or bad. Also if there are any other recommendations for other programs which are good to use ?

i think hes just after programs that make it easy to collaborate between each other, share projects and diary entries, and general business collaboration tools

oh also he mentioned he had set up some emails with 1 and 1 mail exchange. had a little look and they just seem to be a hosting company using microsoft exchange

cheers for any help chaps :)

MS Lync (Formally Office Communications Server) is a great piece of kit, but not useful for a one man band. Office 365 is a on demand service for MS office and this could potentially be useful to your GF's dad.

hes not doing it just by him self. he has some partners and will be useful to organise clients etc. i guess whats the most important is that aspect. the sharing of calendars. thinking of it. could you use google calendar. can that be synced to iPhones and blackberrys ?

Lync is completely overkill for any small business, it's a complete communications platform, taking over the role of a traditional digital voice PBX amongst other things.
