Does anyone cool just the GPU?

I have an antec h60 cooling my cpu :o, and it does a decent job with an overclock so I'm not that bothered about watercooling it (but could do so!), but my graphics card (a Sapphire Toxic 6950HD unlocked to 6970HD) runs very hot and very loud, so I was just wondering about the possibility of putting in a loop just for that. Does anyone else do this? Or is it considered silly to do that without adding in the CPU as well?

I will need a new case for watercooling, any suggestions without breaking the bank? Budget of £400 would be ideal. Having had a look, the kits have CPU blocks so I might just go the whole hog and wc the CPU as well, as the kits seem to provide more value for money..

Its important to note that huge overclocks are not my goal, but as quiet a case as possible.

hi there, you may aswell water cool the cpu......it isnt going to cost much more really compared to doing the gpu.......how you doing the gpu? ive just ordered 2 x full cover blocks and back plates for the toxic sapphire hd 6950s from Ek through overclockers.....just waiting for them to come in........

cooling the gpu makes way more difference than cooling a cpu these days. I have my 6950 unlocked water cooled and it killed allt he fan spin up and dropped the temps over 20 degrees maxed out and 10+ at idle.

With a £400 budget you could cool everything and lose the H60 as a custom loop will be better than a h60.

If you upgrade the gpu regularly you might be better off buying a generic gpu block to save money and they work really well with a set or 2 of ram sinks to cool the ram and power chips. Thats how I do mine with a 9 year old danger den maze 4 block.

You may aswell stick the CPU in :D

hes got a AMD6950 and youve speced a Nvidia gtx580 waterblock, other than that a nice spec as usual.

Cheers for that Cleeecooo! I was hoping my £400 budget would cover a new case as well though :p. I have an Antec 300, and I just can't see there being enough space, not to mention the cable management is non existant.

I've just unlocked my 6950 to a 6970, and I'm more than happy with it - I can't see me upgrading in a fair while.

Keep your eye on MM too - platypus.
Your'll not find a full cover block for a new card - but the rest is always available if you don't mind checking it each days for a few weeks.
Should save you 20-50% on each part (sometimes more).

TBH I'd try a thermalright Shaman, Artic cooling Accelero TWIN TURBO II or XTREME Plus II
before you spend 400 notes on something that still has fans making noise

I've always thought a H60 type product makes more sence for a gpu that a cpu.
GPU keep getting hotter (cpu are getting cooler)
And you don't have the space to have a D14 on a gpu

That would be a bit tighter. Maybe add a xigmatek elysium to my spec, get cheaper fans, cheaper rad and get the pump second hand?

+1 to this!

i run a serial loop for my i2500k and 5870 and the temps are fine as both are oced.

if i don't play games i just turn the fans off to reduce noise and in games, fans to 50% and temps dont go thigh that 60C (CPU) and 80 (GPU)
