does anyone do a internet only service anymore?

Apart from Virgin and wifi providers, no one else does it, since the landline is also a phoneline. The broadband provider can be different from the phone provider however, but this usually ends up a tad more expensive.

Not with broadband over landline im afraid. DSL/ADSL you have to pay for line rental which usually depends which company your with for the price. I get charged around 14 quid a month line rental which i think is a tad expensive tbh. especially considering it took BT about a month to get round to fixing my line which actually took them half hour to fix.

Think you can only get cable/fibre internet only.

It is possible - Zen offer ADSL without having to have your line rental with them. It's probably more expensive to have separately though.

Most fixed line providers do provide a broadband only service as long as there's an active phone line at the property where line rental is being paid to a provider, but these options are more expensive then taking out a broadband service with the phone line being provided by the same company (as an example, you have to pay £2.50 extra a month if you take broadband only from plusnet and you don't get any of the discounts you get if you take a phone line with them as well).
