So I have a bit of a problem. I'm addicted to buying WW1 and WW2 DVDs and Blu-rays. I have a huge collection from countries all over Europe from the UK to Germany to Denmark to Finland to France to Italy and lots of others. I love them. I have no idea how many DVDs and Blu-rays I have but it has got to the stage where when I look at a popular site that sells these things I've pretty much bought everything that they sell.

One area that I haven't started on is old films from before say the 1980s. I might start trying to buy some classics. So does anyone else share my passion for WW1 and WW2 films at all? I'm totally addicted to them. I've learnt quite a lot from watching them all and seeing different perspectives from different countries really makes you think about what you learned in school.

Do you mean documentaries on WW1/WW2 or films like Kelly's Heroes or Dambusters ? I've always wanted to see the coloured version of The Longest Day but never been able to get a copy.

Films. Documentaries. You name it I've probably got it. I collect anything to do with the wars. Dambusters is an all time classic and obviously already has a place in my collection :).

Tried The Sorrow And The Pity (Le Chagrin Et La Pitié) ?

Not watched it myself, nor am I much of a war nut, but it does sound fascinating.

Looks like there are still some things to get for my collection :). Thanks for the info.

I used to be obsessed with WW2 when I was younger and the huge World At War books cover to cover. Was particularly taken with colourised b&w photos and reality fades like these https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2014/06/scenes-from-d-day-then-and-now/100752/

I love things like that. If you look on Imgur some people make galleries of the most impressive war shots you can imagine. Some of them are really interesting.

It's not a film, but have you ever seen a mini TV series called P.O.W.?

Probably not what you're looking for, but it's a great watch regardless.

I'll check it out :). Thanks.

So have you got the coloured version of The Longest Day ? :) I actually have a fondess for war film themes. Love playing games like World of Tanks with modded music I've made.

update: managed to track down a coloured version. Looking forward to finally seeing it although I have read the colourisation is a bit off in places.
