Does anyone else do this?

I realised the other day that I've never been taught to do this, and barely ever consciously realise that I do it. Then it dawned on me this morning, I do this a lot:

If the crappy illustration isn't clear, basically when you're on the pavement do you quickly weigh up if you should be the one closest to the side of the road? I tend to stand closest to the road if there's a woman walking towards me, or a mother and child. But normally not so much if there's an older man, but sometimes I look out for rings on their finger. It's really weird now that I think about it, but I can't be the only one.

I'm not alone then! Woo! What are people's stances with crowds in town? Do you take the bulldozer approach? Play chicken with people? Dodge certain types of people?

Oh, and couples that won't break their hand-holding to walk single file past someone walking the other side.. wtf? Is their hand-bond really that important?

The only thing I ever consider when walking pavements is single women late at night (oi, behave). If I see one approaching ahead, I'll cross the road and walk on the other side in the chance that she might feel threatened by my presence. The rest of times I'm pretty much oblivious to what goes on around me.

Hate that, when you spend too long walking behind a woman and think "ahh man she think's i'm gonna mug her or worse"
