Does anyone else find university hard?

Its because GCSE's and A Levels are dumbed down so its easy to pass, when you goto uni you realise your actually dumb regardless of your 20 a* grades? discuss....

I found that I was hard a lot of the time. That wasn't related to course material though.

:D

I'm finding it hard to put the effort in, but i'm not finding Chemistry too difficult.

Have a talk with a tutor - if you have them? - or someone who organises the course, they may be able to help you.

edit: A Level's are harder in my opinion. GCSE's, worthless.

Trolling aside, it depends what your academic background is like, your motivation, how hard you work, where you are studying, the material on your course...

Ultimately if you are struggling to understand or keep up, speak to your tutor ASAP.

I never found university hard lol. And yes you are totally correct my grammar was shocking. Dam you spell checker you have failed me !!! It was actually auto correct in my phone that changed it to the wrong word but I didn't proof read my comment so for that I am ashamed

I put in little effort at Uni but came out with a 2:1 in BSc Human and Physical Geography at Reading University. I went to the library twice, maybe 3 times...

Uni is more about understanding the way you need to work rather than how much effort you put in. It's your technique with arguing rather than just writing an 'essay'.

I always used to imagine that every published author I discussed in my work was dodgy and not be trusted. Therefore, I would try and prove them wrong/right whilst always being critical of their work.

Clearly it worked for me as I got the grade I wanted whilst spending 3 years on FIFA :D

EDIT: torrent your textbooks btw...

In all seriousness if you are finding it too hard then you need to think about saying something and maybe switching courses? Perhaps you are not into the subject as much as you thought you would be? WHat year are you in?

Some of my friends found the course we were all on to be extremely easy, they were the ones that got the 2:2's or below. I found it difficult, but only because I was aiming high, and knew that any less than a first would be unacceptable (In my personal case).

I think it really depends on what you're putting into it.

Depends on the course and the insitution.

I certainly found my course challenging - everyone did. But others at the same uni on different courses seemed to find it a lot easier, and had much lower drop out rates as a result.

I think its better for the course to be hard though, sets you up well for the future and you will learn more.

I'm not doing too badly now.

May also have something to do with which university you are at as well. If your not at a red brick university (a proper one) then you may as well quit and try a different course at a better one
