Does anyone else get nervous on voice comms when playing games?

For some reason I get really nervous when using voice comms like Teamspeak or Mumble or Discord when playing a game or even when I'm out of a game. I much prefer to use a forum or some other text based chat when communicating with people. I've just joined a gaming community to play a specific game and they use voice comms all the time and it is effecting my enjoyment in general.

The game I joined to play hasn't been released yet but there is a lot of planning going on. Personally I'd be quite happy to type out all of my plans into a Google Document or something and open it up to collaborative editing but the others seem to enjoy using voice comms.

I've never had to use voice comms in games before even when I was playing MMOs and had to do some heavy raiding. Text always worked well when leading a bunch of people.

So am I the only one in this position or are there others who also get nervous when using voice comms?

Might help you build up your confidence. Just put yourself on push to talk and relax.

Yeah. I guess I should just use it more and hope it becomes easier. I'm not sure why I get so nervous though. I mean I can use the telephone just fine it's just when it is on the computer that it feels weird. Oh well. Practice makes perfect :).

Kind of the same here, I don't specifically like talking to people while playing a game unless it's people I know in real life. Prefer to just type chat it's more relaxed for me. I'm happy to listen to voice comm instructions though, mainly for games like World of Warcraft where things need to be said quickly it helps, but no need for me to reply by voice to anything.

The main problem is that I am in a leadership role so have to give out instructions to people playing underneath me and due to the nature of the game that could be hundreds if not thousands of players.
