Does anyone else imagine songs before they fall asleep

About once a week, when I'm sort of in that state of falling asleep and still awake, I seem to imagine songs. They are also good songs that don't exist (so like I'm not imagining a Michael Jackson song and thinking it's my own), and I am always thinking to myself 'man this is such a good song, I should record this', and yet the next morning I've forgotten it.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Opposite for me: I dream of really crap songs only to realise sometime later that Michael Jackson had already recorded them.

'Ben' was one of my latest.

It's getting really annoying.

Both before I fall asleep, in dreams and even sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night have an idea for a song, but can never be bothered to get out of band and do it, and go back to sleep.

Weird stuff.

I sometimes think up cool fragments of music in my "minds ear". Unfortunately you need a differnt skill to actually express it, just like thinking up a cool image doesn't mean you're able to paint it.

I often dream that I'm making wonderful lurve to some top-notch totty(s).
I can see deep into her eyes. I can taste her lips.

Then I have to switch the light on to get up for a pee or morning breaks - and I look at my missus.

And I think ...

True story right here, don't know how it's relevant but thought I'd put it in here,

My friend Nick, when he was 14 dreamt that he was covered in super noodles.

He then woke up and found he'd **** himself and he was covered in poo.

We spread it around college, LOLZ everywhere.

That happens to me too, just before sleep :(

I have the most awesome music playing in my brain, but only when I'm not actively concentrating on it.

As soon as I think "wow this is awesome" and try to concentrate on it, it disappears. I have no musical talent when conscious, that's for sure :p

I imagine mental orchestral stuff when I wake up some mornings and wish I had the talent to put it down on paper before I forget it... I listen to tonnes of music and most of the time, I'm sure it's not a direct copy of something else, although the odd obvious variation pops up.

I've started using the dictaphone on my phone to take down a few ideas by way of whistling them now and then, but I haven't had the time to mess about with any of them lately what with working abroad and other stuff.... bleh.

happened to me this morning by coincidence. had a really good, but complex, piano piece in my head.

No talent to write it down though, and it had gone within a few minutes anyway. :o

I've got quite a few piano "compositions" down in Sibelius that came to me in a dozy state. Some of them are alright and I've had some positive comments from others. Almost all of them are in an unfinished state, though...

I do, thought of some great songs aswell. Certain they'd be in the charts now, better than the 900 crap Florider songs that are there now.

Nope, I do try keep a blank mind to help myself sleep but that seems more effort to be honest concentrating on one thing, or nothing at all.
