Does anyone else use a bedroom fan?

If the electric ever goes out we are screwed then.It is suprising how many of us actually are pretty dependant on our fans eh? im gonna join mine now actually looking forward to bed time :)

In Aus I'd have aircon in at least the living room, depending on the house it might have central/ducted aircon if not then a fan in the bedroom. But here, I don't see the point unless it gets hotter and for longer.

I have a 12" fan I bought last year, served me well so far but in the really hot weather it only manages to hurl hot air at you, may try a damp tea towel draped over the back sometime as I've heard that can help cool the air

I have a small flat and need to get air moving. Outside might be cool in the evenings for the flat stays still with the days' heat.

I need a tower fan - was looking at the Dyson ones, for the looks.

Ceiling fan is the way forward!

Picked it up the other day, remote controlled etc...its bloody fantastic. It was a godsend last night.

I went from a fan to a small personal AC unit. Seriously i would never go back. Even through i have to empty it of water every 3 days or so of continuous use (due to being a dehumidifier as well)

Best aircon unit? I'm in a top floor flat and heat is killing me at night, constant headaches to.

Think the exhaust hose is going to be a problem as windows not too big.

I do and yes I feel cooler. Downside is I have to have it on all year round as I "need" the sound of it to help me sleep.

+1

I have a room fan on all year and a desk fan for my face in the height of summer

Im thinking of getting a portable air conditioner to try it out :)

I gave up on fans because they couldn't get it under 24 degrees in my flat. I had two 16 inch fans blowing in air through two windows....it gets up to mid 30s in the summer (i.e now) and I'm not really a hot weather kind of person. In order to keep it reasonably cool with the fan setup I needed two big windows open all day (I'm on the 3rd floor) which equals insects flying in, street noise, and nuclear sun blast when the sun gets round here so it became impractical and I was faced with the choice of sweating all day or listening to bendy buses and seagulls until I went mad.

I got a basic dual hose air con unit instead and I have it set to maintain low 20s depending on how I feel. It's about a million times better than a fan setup and also has a heater but I have to be careful not to leave it on all day of course....not that fans run for free either.

I have a small usb fan that is pathetic, but just about does a smallish blast of air. Very noisy also... I would presume you get what you pay for but maybe not so.
Argos is calling me as well
