Get annoyed when people refer to their systems as water cooled but they are just using a closed loop CPU cooler?

I think they should call them something else

In theory, they are 'liquid-cooled' but only limited to the CPU.

Does'nt really annoy me although the only time when it does get on my nerves a little is in sales advertisments, when its listed as a 'watercooled' gaming rig. Although technically its correct, but to us high end gamers etc it isnt.

BUT ITS WATER COOLED SO ALL YOUR GAMES WILL RUN IN ULTRA SETTINGS. ALSO I WOULD SAY ITS TOTALLY FUTUREPROOF

That's a good point, To a normal person water cooling sounds like something from the future..?

I think liquid cooling would make their heads explode?

It's all marketing, generally speaking if you are the type of person who is after a water cooled rig then you know exactly what you're looking for and won't be fooled by this or you will build it yourself.

Can't say it would annoy me personally if someone said they had a watercooled system and it turned out to be closed loop.

strictly speaking it is watercooling. I do agree however that there should perhaps be a greater distinction between custom loops and closed / pre-assembled loops. Doesn't bother me terribly though

Watercooling is NOT that damn stupid closed loop POS you can buy off the shelf.

Watercooling is a high performance personally built system.

I would call liquid cooling more a h100 and stuff like that, water cooling is actually using a reservoir tubes, pumps to me..

Technically the closed loop systems are water cooled. They use water as a means to transport heat away which is just the same as watercooling used in cars etc. and not really different from a custom made water cooling setup. Really the only difference is: you don't have any assembly to do (other than installing it), the pump and cold plate are directly attached and the radiator and reservoir are one. It still has everything a custom loop has most importantly they both have water.

thing is, the liquid there isnt actually water...
