I have a 50" Panasonic TH-50PHD8B, have had it for a few years now and could not be happier with it :)
Never had any trouble with screen burn, and watching the football on it is a joy.
I would definatly buy Panasonic again.

Still possible, and if you've just spend £3000 a Pioneer Kuro 50" 1080p I would not play games on it.

Use a LCD for gaming.

Thing is most will be fine. Example: the sammy i bought was the best* when i bought it (equal to the panny px70 and rated better in some reviews)

I wouldnt get obsessed about getting the very very best because theres always the mythical better screen out there. :D

*= comparable price ranges

If you get it though it's bloody annoying. I'd rather pay a extra £1000 on another panel which I know is safe to use, keeping the expensive screen burn free.

Isnt that down to Noise Reduction though? If you turn it off it doesn't blur anymore, does on my samsung anyway.

I am not sure, but I will be absolutely gutted if turning that off removed it completely, as I loved the telly apart from the motion blur.

Had my Pioneer for over two years now and played games on it daily, now a whiff of a problem ever. The problem people have with plasma's and image retention is generally there contrast and brightness settings are set way to high.

Nor I also heard that movie plus (when its on) was the major cause for blurring on the m87 series.

I had that turned off. I think I became perhaps overly sensitive to blurring really. Been watching a crappy little 26" Sony CRT for the last few days since sending my Samsung back and I have noticed the same motion blur/judder on fast panshough obviously isn't there a lot of the other times). I was blaming this on the LCD technology solely, but I now think some of the motion blur/judder is recorded at source with fast pans.

It really is a case of the more you know, the more difficult it is to make a decision :) Need a new big TV soon though. Can't play my 360 on this little ****** of a CRT, and watching TV isn't as immersive at all.bluy (t

Sent my 40" LCD back due to motion blur watching the footie and movies etc. It was great for gaming, but didn't enjoying watching the TV on it.

So, was looking at a plasma, but am a bit worried about image retention, especially when gaming. Any testimonials? Had looked at the Panasonic Viera 42" 720P TV.
Plasma has improved over the years and the chance of getting retention is much less than ever before, maybe almost non-existent.

Also don't turn up the contrast too high. In my case, I just set my plasma to 'Cinema' mode as the contrast/colour in normal mode is too strong for my taste.

Had my 42" Panny PX60-B for just over a year now (it's been replaced with the PX70 which also has 1080p) and I've not had any issues with burn in at all - even for mammoth XBLA poker sessions with friends that last 3-4 hours+, and the image quality is top notch.

The only thing I've noticed was some slight retention on Forza 2 with pure white text returning to a pure black background, however it lasted about 3-4 minutes tops and it was with the living room lights off.

After seeing the frankly shocking image quality of a few friends LCDs and my parents 32" Samsung LCD, I'm sticking to plasma until the next big thing happens :)

I game on two different modelled 42inch Panasonic Plasma's and the picture is perfect on both. I have no retention that I can see and I scrutinize my picture for quality defects. Actually I had an LG plasma before selling it for a Panny.. Plasma outshines LCD by a country mile in PQ.... But do stick to a Panny or Pioneer as motion is not as good with other models.

motion is fine on mine. I viewed panasonic, lg, sharp, toshiba models etc before deciding to go for samsung(pioneer out of my price range really)

Ive been gaming on a plasma since the 360 was released.

I've upgraded my plasma recently from a 42" LG to a 50" Panasonic 1080p and it's superb on the 360 and the PS3.

got a HD 42" philips for two years, xbox for 14 months on it and no retention what so ever. looks fantastic.
