Does anyone have a 10v 470uf radial capacitor?

I appear to have knocked one off my motherboard and although it has been working fine without it, id like to replace it. However i cannot find anywhere with them in stock without having to buy 800!

I'm sure the voltage rating is a maximum and if so a higher voltage capacitor would work.

I knocked a CAP of my 6800Ultra back in the day, and bought 6 new caps the same spec online, they will sell single.

I took a few as it would act as spares and was embarished as cost was low, they make on psotage though as it doubles the cost, still under £10 to fix my card was good.

I will try find my recipet to get you the website.

Wouldnt want to risk a different component to be honest, sure ill find one somehow.

Any luck?

Nope, as I forgot they dont take my Debit Card and I got my Uncle to buy on his Credit Card.

I know where the spares I got are though, but burried behind boxes in a cupboard, I will look sometime tonight or tomorrow. (not saying they are same spec as your as it was a 6800Ultra AGP).

The voltage rating is the maximum working voltage, so long as the replacement has at least the same voltage it will meet the voltage requirements.

More importantly, you need to get the same type and the same physical size. If it is marked +/- it is an electrolytic capactior and should be replaced with the same. Obviously, you need to get exactly the same capacitance, this will be written on the old capacitor.

RS should have what you need (when their website is up again)!

Trust me, if its same type as I needed they are hard to get in UK (easy in USA).

As you need a 10v you can use a 16v no probs (its Max volts), its the uf Value thats important.

My card ran without it, many are just there to run together, if you run without 1 it may shorten the cards life as others will fail or it may run forever.

16v 470uf seems to be readily available, so i guess i should go for them. When you say type and same physical size, ive been making sure its a radial capacitor and just presumed if i got the same rating it would be the same size anyway? Should i be looking for other numbers off the capacitor? The capacitor is brown and has a silver band which i presumed marked the +/- making it a electrolytic capacitor.

Yeah, ebay USA seems to have the right sort, might just do that as im in no rush. Motherboard has been running perfectly without it, but just wanted to get it replaced for peace of mind.

Cheers for the info so far guys, very useful.
