I was all set for getting this monitor, read some great reviews on it, until I came across a lot complaining that the backlight was too strong. They therefore suggested use only for those who do not use the computer at night or in dim environments. I certainly ue mine a lot at night and am a bit worried that the brightness may be a problem. The review suggested that altering the settings didn't help this problem either.
Many thanks,
Al

I've had mine for about 3 months now and use it a lot in the evening at night. I've never felt the backlight was too strong. (I'm on a laptop right now so can't let you know what settings I'm using) Nothing like some monitors I've had in the past. I guess this sort of thing is fairly subjective, and I'm by no means an expert, but I'm sure the knowledgeable guys on here will let you know there opinions!

Anyone know where I can actually see one of these on display? I've currently got an SM226BW, but I want to know if it's worth putting in another £100 for this. I need to see it for myself.

Yes I have one, I've not read any reviews complaining about the backlight (must've missed those) and I too use my computer in the dark. It's the best panel out of the few I regularly use with good uniformity, viewing angles and no noticeable backlight bleed (the stand's great too).

Not noticed any problems either. Yes, at standard its very bright, got my brightness set to 25 at the moment and its much better. But as others have said, cant fault this monitor at all, best stand Ive ever had on a monitor, colours are great and amazing viewing angles. Look at it pretty much side on and still looks great!

As above, its default brightness out of the box is a little nuts (they all are) but once you get your own settings input it's fine.

Don't be put off by a single rogue review the general consensus is that this is the best monitor you can get for ~£200 (I have 2 and they're one of my best investments.)

EDIT: Read this thread - link - andi and i discuss the benefits of the DELL at length and there are some great links to reviews and stats.

You shouldn't regret it.

From the monitors sturdy, sleek lined apprearence to its a superb image and colour reproduction - this monitor exudes quality in all areas. Put simply it's suberb value...

10 minutes of unpacking and inputing the correct contrast, brightness and preferred colour balance and you'll never look back.

The price is £248.00 with no ETA - has this monitor gone end of line? Shame if it has, love mine.

Seems it has. One online retailer has some left at £197 I think, but I don't have the cash to splash until after christmas, so I think I'll miss out on these.
