Came across these on another forum - guy said it was one of the three best things he has in shed - the other two are gaffa tape and mole grip's.

I only picked this one because it was first link - I think we have missed B&Q sale where they were going fo £25 and they no longer stock them.
They seem a good idea but it would help if someone has one and can comment on them.
I have found one cheaper but like all copies they do not look so robust.

My grandad had one - literally the only person I ever known to own one though I think he built it himself (used to own a car garage).

Before your link literally the only time I've ever seen one.

Looks like a great idea. Many times ive needed a vice but dont have a bench to mount it too.

Might have to get one
Agreed, there's been a few times working on bits for my bike where being able to stick the part in a vice would have saved much swearing!

I have been reading again about these and some guy put his belt sander in it upside down which seemed a good idea -- One use I might have is putting my pillar drill on it (bench one) but then you read 1000kg clamping force - will that crack the base of pillar drill - Although it sounds a lot is it really - If you can clamp a fancy door in it without marking it then I should get away with it.
Hopefully picking a Triton one up tomorrow if they still have it - The only supplier who seems to have loads is Amazon but they are same price as I have seen elsewhere. - Going to spend the night trying to talk myself out of it but I do need something to put oversized logs in to cut them up. :)

They do look great and I’ve eyed them up in the past.

I think my concern is how heavy they are to provide suitable stability.

It’s all well having huge clamping force but if I clamp some wood in and start using a hammer and chisel I want it to be stable. Not rocking all over the place like I have with my folding workbench!

Just pulled the trigger on a Triton basic - just couldn't justify the Rockwell for the amount of use I will give it - The Rockwell jaws close on a ratchet when you keep pressing foot lever so it's easy to close the jaws with a big piece of wood in - the Triton you have to lean over the work to physically close the jaws up before you can do the final tightning by foot. - If I was younger and just starting on the house DIY I could justify the more expensive ones. - So sometime next week I will be able to report in.
