Does anyone have a phone number for BT tech support in the UK?

IS that to an actual UK call center? the only way i ever got a good level of service was to send an email to the director of BT uk and someone from his executive level complaints team got back to me... things actually got sorted then... but i had already been through weeks of hell with india doing bugger all to sort the issue.
 
As above the only way I've ever been able to sort actual problems (and get someone from the UK) is to go to the top and get allocated an ELC contact (which in most cases it completely overkill) :| at which point you then get brilliant customer service lol... if you only got half of that from frontline support...

Rubbish. I don't see why we can't expect a good level of customer support regardless of where the service is run. Frankly outsourced support services are mostly terrible.
 
All overseas call centres are not crap, all under-resourced and badly trained call centres are.

Be's Bulgarian one was excellent, HMRC's UK ones are dire, etc. BT's problem isn't that it's in India, it's that they don't give their staff any powers of discretion and haven't managed to shake off the reasonably common Indian customer service trait of only saying positive things, regardless of whether you mean it or not.
 
I've found their UK and Indian call centres to be equally useless. The UK ones just sound more competent and much more affirmative.

Like you, the only way I found to get a proper resolution from them was to contact the big boss. At that point, I got put onto the executive care team (or something), who were all English, and the guy I dealt with was a complete moron.
 
I've had good results from the Executive Level Complaints team as well when nobody else wanted to take ownership of a problem (confirmed FTTC order slipped back two weeks every two weeks with no explanation). It's a shame that I had to go that far but their call centres had enough chances.
 
BT Business Support is fantastic, I've got a number which skips their entire IVR system and puts you at the front of the queue every time it seems :p
