Does anyone have Kinect Rivals?

Just picked up a copy for the kids today to keep them happy. They want to play bowling.

The game is installed and I have created an avatar. No idea what happened next but the system attempted to create a second avatar. Poorly coded game, no back button so I had to go through the motions of creating another avatar we didn't want..:roll eyes:

anyway, then it goes to wave ride training. Not that I wanted to do any training on the jet ski, but again no back button so I have to do it.

ok, so finally after 20mins I get to the main menu. Where on earth do we start playing the bowling game  The only thing I can do is wave riding (which I have played to death on the demo) and some team thing....again, to do with wave riding.

THE KIDS JUST WANT A GAME OF BOWLING!!!!!!!!!

also, on nearly every menu the joypad doesn't do anything. You have to use your hand gestures, which is a right pain. It says to speak "listen", but then comes up "voice command is not for your country"

it seems everything Microsoft put out at the minute is nothing but jumping through hoops

any ideas?

Thanks

Basically, the game tries to add a story in (hence the teams) so you have to go through each sport's training, one by one.

Someone did mention on here that there's a quick play option to play the other sports without doing the training though?

I agree though it's a bit of ****, the old setup was miles better. Switch on, pick sport, play sport. This whole crap with the teams thing is dung.

The joypad works just fine for navigation for me, I often use it to get into a sport instead of hand/voice gestures (which, incidentally, also work fine when I choose to use them).

Once you have completed all of the training, the game modes become fully unlocked, but as said, there is a quick play option from the off but I'm not sure you can use your own avatar in that? I know when I tried a quick game of bowling just after I'd installed the game it gave me a pre-determined character instead of my own.

It's definitely a 6 or 7 out of 10 game though, the old 360 one was better generally which is a shame considering the superior Kinect technology.

mmm, i've been wondering for a while if my machine is faulty

Can't do any voice in the game as it says "not for your consoles locale" it's set to uk. I want to create the kids their avatars so I guess today we'll have to quickly play through all the other games first
