Does anyone have the Prince of Persia fix - process.exe

The original Sands of Time trilogy runs like a dog on my dual-core laptop. There is a file called PROCESS.EXE which is available from http://theunusualsuspect.com/software/process but the website is down. Does anyone have a copy of it?

It's a file that maxes out your CPU load and somehow makes the PoP games run at normal speed.

I was reading about this the other day... someone was saying you can go into task manager in Win7 and limit CPU against a process... but i cant see how. only set a priority.

Also, if that fails, you may want to look into creating a virtual machine as Windows 7 can do that and you should be able to limit resources to that.

Ah yes! I do have VMware Workstation with XP on. It should work perfectly in that as it has full support for DirectX 9. I'll give it a whirl, cheers.

The thing you are looking for is affinity.

If you find the POP process and then right click it and then click set affinity and choose one CPU.

I can't remember if this resolves the issue for POP as its ages since I've played it.

In the end I just used msconfig and told Windows 7 to start up with only processor enabled from the Boot options. The game worked perfectly in single CPU mode!

There's also a program called 'set affinity' which do this quite simply for you.
