I want something ordering off ebay from the US and shipped to me here in the UK it weighs only 920g and yet they want to charge me 35 quid in shipping costs

I left the US for the UK a number of years ago, but still have family and friends in the US, which might be of help depending on what you want shipped.

It wouldn't be far off it. I sent a box weighing roughly that from LA to the UK and it was over $30.
