Does anyone here tip takeaway delivery drivers?

Thats got nothing to do with it, I'm commenting on him giving his reason for not tipping as the above, which is completely rude.

Its like me saying that I wouldnt tip certain delivery staff because they're Scottish.

I've been tipping ~20-25% on them lately, but tonight i'm not tipping anything. It varies for me.

Why the **** would ANYONE tip someone for driving to your door and delivering a meal... 20-25%? The mind boggles.

Tip when you recieve outstanding service, or when the person who has served you clearly doesn't have two pennies to rub together (other countries). All this tipping for nothing is just diluting the whole point of providing good service, and standards can only slip as a result if people think they will be tipped whether they make an effort or not.

I actually agree, I think I tipped too much at 25% hence I'm not going to any more unless it comes really quickly.

"Have a tip, you drove the car that whole mile from the take-away to my house REALLY well, and the way you presented the pizza to me in your outstretched hand was nothing short of inspiring. Bravo."

If they come quick and are not miserable gits then yes I generally do, but most of the drivers I get coming here have face's like slapped behinds and cant even muster more than a grunt.

Not to mention, if you are paying nearly £15 for a pizza, which is discounted if you go and pick it up yourself, you have already paid a 'delivery charge' so I don't see a reason to pay a tip.

Why the hell go to those places if its £15 a pizza  You can go out for a restaurant meal for that !

My local pizza shop is awesome and about £4 for a 10" or £5-£6 for one big enough for a few of us.

I'd rather spend my money than give it to someone else, so I wouldn't tip unless they'd considerably exceeded my expectations

But isn't there something wrong with this? I mean, surely you should be expecting a good service as standard?

yes but your going to get what you get.. tipping means next time you get excellent service, assuming they remember you!

But in London £16-17 is a 8" cheese pizza surely?

£15.00 or so from firezza for a 1/2 meter nice pizza!

or like £9.00 from my local pizza shop

or like £4.00 from tesco! (which i normally buy)

or were you joking or sumthing?

because usually the meal is like £10-£15 pounds and like a £1-£2 tip..

if you happen to order £200 of stuff then a £40 tip would be silly.. which isnt the case.

I mean recently in some bar i went downstairs to the toilet, so im thinking yay!,so i open the door and 1 of those toilet dudes is there, he says like hello and give me a handshake, tells me merry xmas and stuff, i then drain the vain (and the law of silence at this time is observed) then he gives me soap, turns on the hot water, and gives me paper towls!

i tipped him £2! ..

These guys are UTTERLY pointless. Everyone is capable of turning the tap on themselves. You basically paid somebody £2 to turn a tap on for you, i mean...

Ohh have you ever heard the freshen up guy song? Quite a lot of those guys sing it.

Just youtube for 'freshen up guy'

They really annoy me, i never tip them.

Nah, he paid as guy £2 so he didn't get other peoples urine all over his hands. Money well spent I'd say so long as he opened the door for him as well.

i get drunk and kick the door open to make a big entrance
