Does anyone here understand or use Nvidia DSR ?

I have a 1440p monitor and I have been fiddling with Nvidia's DSR feature in the control panel to run games at 3840x2160 (2.25x DL). This provides a much cleaner image compared to my native 2560x1440 resolution however I have noticed that my mouse feels a little sluggish and not as responsive compared to when i run at my native resolution. I find i have to increase my mouse sensitivity quite a bit and even then im not sure it feels that good.

My question is, is this normal when using DSR ? I know im obviously going to get lower frames doing this but in the games i've tested im still getting 140fps with DSR enabled so i figure it should still feel good through the mouse.

Is mouse responsiveness a known issue when using DSR ?

Another question...

Is my performance when running 3840x2160(4k) via DSR on a 1440p monitor going to be worse than if i was running the same resolution natively on an actual 4k monitor ?

That was a bit of a word salad but I hope someone understands what im asking :p

Interestingly I use DSR exactly as you've tried :)
My monitor is a fast 1440P 165hz jobby, and since acquiring a 4090 I've got performance to spare, hence using DSR to game at 4k. For me it's been fantastic as most games run superb at 4k, and like you've discovered, look excellent on a 1440 monitor. If things get really heavy like say the latest Witcher patch, or maxed out Cyberpunk, I can always go back to 1440 native without any blurry bad scaling.

I believe there is no other performance hit compared to actually running on a native 4k, and I haven't suffered any weird mouse pointer issues either. Some games don't recognise the extra 4k display option like God of War, but popping desktop into 4k fixes that.

Depending on game/settings you are having to move the mouse position further for the same effect due to the extra pixels - one of the reasons I stick to 1440p for many games as I like to match 1:1 sensitivity/pixels for best precision. If you are used to a 1:1 or close relationship you'll never get quite the same feel from changing sensitivity/DPI.
