Tried the usual media players — VLC, mplayer etc.?
Those should be able to handle just about anything you can throw at them

Although why you wouldn't want to use iTunes is beyond me...

i use itunes for playing tunes purchased through the store, but i find it a bit heavy and blotted for my little mac mini.
