Does anyone know the average mpg of a Q7

It's a MY07. I've been offered it for our annual trip to France.

The alternative, is my E60 530d.

If I take what the internet seems to suggest, 30mpg for the Q7, plus it's 100 litre tank, then it will only get 660 ish miles to a tank if driven sensibly. The E60 will hit 700, less fully loaded.

My question is, for 4 adults, is it really like to be more roomy given that luggage space is the only real differing factor, and, whilst we will have luggage, it's not enough to fill the E60 boot let alone the Q7

I'd take the E60.

The Q7 is quite thirsty, mainly due to its weight and the inefficiencies of 4WD.

It might be marginally more comfortable due to the seating position, but if your E60 is an estate then there will most likely be more usable luggage space in your car.

No, it's a saloon. As I say, it's two luggage bags, some fold up chairs. Nothing major. Seems a waste in the Q7 almost.

Assuming your luggage will fit in the E60, I'd still be taking the E60.

4 adults, I'd have the Q7. That sort of mileage, sitting higher up will be a lot nicer.

E60 will be a lot less tiring, assume you'll be on the peages and D roads most of the time therefore seat height will not really be an issue, you will not really gain any advantage on long straight toll roads.
