I prefer beige to fake silver plastic. My 2nd rig is beige. It's using my old IBM aptiva E35 case from 1998, beige mouse and keyboard too. Couldn't stand to go so old skool on the monitor though, which is black (although it is a CRT). Got an X2 4200+, 2GB RAM and an X1800XT in it, so it's a bit less old skool than it looks...

I've tried once or twice and it just feels wrong, I know they are meant to be better for you in some ways, particularly if you suffer from certain types of RSI but I don't think I could get used to the lack of control.
Its great for AutoCAD.. I find I have better accuracy and control over the position of the cursor when drawing!.. Plus it stops anyone else using my computer as they can't use the 'Trackball'
It took me about a week to get used to it.. I find now using a mouse very weird!!.. It helps if you use a laptop touchpad or one of those 'Thinkpad' nipples to use AutoCAD (or any graphics proggie) it helps to train you in using a trackball!!..
And what's the point of a mousemat
It covers the nasty gouge that some pleb took out of my desk last year!.. IT won't buy me a new keyboard!.. The Company won't buy me a new desk!!
fair enough mate, in the last place I worked, this new guy started and he demanded one of them, and a left handed keyboard (number pad is on the left)
the left handed keyboard was the quality of a £5 one, but cost about £90
he would accept a usb number pad either, lol
