Does ANYONE play Oblivion without crashes ?(360)

My Game crashes roughly about every half hour. (Disc read error).

Does anyone play this game without crashes ?
If so then my X-box 360 is obviously faulty and is going back.

My PC version has problems, as does most peoples, and ive seen reports of lots of problems with the 360 version too. But you shouldnt be getting disk read errors as far as i know. With my mates ps2, the console was at fualt, as it had developed recently and now plays almost NO games.

Played through 100% 120 hours, the mrs has played 30+ hours.

1 hang which was after about 10 hours but nothing since.

Edit: With that particular error and if it's only Oblivion that crashes it sounds like your disk's faulty.

every few hours i would get a dic read error, always when i hadnt saved for ages :( think the drive on my 360 is a bit faulty tho, makes horrid noises now and then, will prolly die in the end

Only times mine's crashed was on the loading screen - bar just stuck at the bottom going nowhere. Has happened about three times in 150+ hours of play.

Actually, I tell a lie, it crashed once as I leapt off a rock towards an imp next to an Oblivion gate, mid-swing with a sword and colliding with a fireball. Clearly there was too much going on!

Have you tried 360 patch?
Clearing the hd cache might help as follows
Reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the “Bethesda Softworks” logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared.
Note, this does not effect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data.

my friend had a problem and had to restart the whole game....

There was a door, he went through it, the game loaded the outside world, but when loaded he couldn't move forward and was stuck in the doorway area but the game was still working, just wouldn't let him move forward out of the doorway.

Got to about 80 hours on PC. Never crashed once.
About 10 hours into 360 version and again no crashes. Slight stuttering as I race across the landscape on my gee-gee but that's to be expected if it's reading from the DVD rather than a hard disk.

I reset the cache all the time.
The game runs FINE.

It does sound like the DVD drive is "going on one." The same noise PS2`s make before the drive dies.

Will be returning to shop !

My friend has that with several games, notably PGR3 and Oblivion. It's a 360 error, not a game error, I've not had it yet.

When I had it (recently traded in) I had encountered no crashes once I got a premium system.

The core system I used to have used to crash on loading every game save yet worked on every other game and was fine if I started a new game.

Played it though, 100-or so hours of play, never crashed, never needed to reset the cache. The only problem I've had is where I got stuck once and had to reload.

1 lock up while loading, only oblivion though (not the entire system).
Bought my 360 in January & Oblivion at release, played it a hell of a lot.
