I seem to recall asking this ages ago but can't find anything after a search so:

When I was a kid we sat around the dinner table to eat and discuss the events of the day on a very regular basis; my sister and I were allowed to eat from a plate on our lap whilst watching the tv occasionally but as the set was in a different room, it didn't happen often.

Now, with tvs in every room etc, I don't think that many people sit around the table anymore, which I believe to be regretable.

Where do you eat your meals when at home? anyone still share their experiences of the day around the table without radio or tv etc?

We do, every meal we're all round a table chatting etc. When we were younger occasionally my brother and I were allowed to go watch simpsons etc but twas rare.

It also helps having video on demand these days, meaning if you are in the middle of watching something and it's dinner time your quite happy to pause it and go eat as you know you can pick up from where you left off after dinner with out missing anything.

Im still living with my parents, and the only time i've sat around a table is at christmas.

We just sit on the sofa and watch TV.

Nope, not really. Can't see the point, it's normally just silent as there is not much you can talk about your day. "went to work...", "same"...

I sit at the dinner table, unless I'm having a sandwich myself then probably sat at the pc or tv.

Yep, that sounds much like me too.

I really don't like eating on the sofa, I'd much rather sit at a table, or in the very least my desk.

We have every dinner around a table together, but we have a tv on in that room so we don't really talk that much.

Only day we really chat is when we have sunday roast.

Even if i'm eating on my own I still like to eat at a table, but maybe thats because I'm a messy bugger. :p

We always used to up until I moved out, moved back in again recently and I don't any more, have food in my room. However we do eat at the table on special events and the odd time now and again when it just happens that way.

My parents still eat at the table and my brothers still quite often join them but not in the organised way it used to.

Usually the table, sometimes on a Friday or a Saturday just in the lounge. Why would people sit at their PC whilst eating dinner? Can the internet not wait for you that long?

Used to all the time until we had the kitchen done. Now we just eat "dinners" / roasts etc in the dining room.
