I know there is no MP anymore as they discontinued the servers yonks ago, but for a good old freeroam virtual driving sesh?

I think it's great still, I know the handling might not be "realistic" but in Hardcore mode it still feels a lot better for driving around that most driving games, much more enjoyable freeroam than The Crew despite not been as varied landscaped as as much to explore.

Thanks to your post, I just installed it and had a quick hour driving around. Oh, the memories. Loved the music and the scenery in this game. I still haven't been to Ibiza yet. One day...

TDU is based on one of the Hawaiian islands...

TDU 2 introduced Ibiza. Wasn't as good.

Ah, OK. I didn't play the first TDU, only the 2nd one. Which as you say was Ibiza and also Oahu. But I thought it was fantastic all the same.

Both classics, loved the casino DLC in TDU2.. Great distraction to squander credits (or win loads more!) and no micropayment system in sight . Did anything similar ever get released? Forza Horizons comes to mind but not quite the same is it

I spent countless hours driving around the island. Might reinstall it this weekend, hopefully I've not binned the disc.

Such an awesome game, especially with the casino. I managed to get lucky on roulette big time and went top of the highest winners board. Got me a pretty good collection with the winnings.

TDU2 had both Oahu and Ibiza. You started in the latter.

Loved the first game (albeit on Xbox 360), I recall it was one of the only games I maxed the gamer score on. Finding & driving every road took a long time, even with a very fast car.

I bought the second game on PC but never fell in love with it as much. The driving model changed enough that it just didn't feel right.

Absolutely LOVED tdu2! Cheesy voice acting, fantastic maps to drive around in, used to hammer the casino, and the music was flipping great!, needs a 3rd (the crew was awful)

I did try TDU2 a few months ago but found the car handling - compared to more recent games - flat and too arcade-ish. Shame as first time out I quite enjoyed it albeit don't think I ever graduated from Ibiza to Hawaii. Maybe I should be a bit less discerning and give it another go.

Prefer TDU2 myself - not a fan of the campaign as it needs a lot of work though there is an unofficial modification that lets you tweak a lot of that including vastly improving the vehicle physics and sadly servers are up and down but the atmosphere is great and visually impressive still - with an update that gave it better water/water physics and fixed some terrain rendering issues - z-fighting and the distant LOD morphing it would look really good.

Rroff - Are you able to post a link or directions to get the physics mod? I'm not too bothered about MP, just race the bots or do the transport/taxi missions to build up XP.

Cheers.

It is a little complex to mod especially if you have the steam version - IIRC there is a site called turboduck which has a lot of stuff for TDU2.

I play it from time to time offline. It has been replaced by Forza Horizon 3 though, even if FH3 doesn't have the same sprawing highways (it also doesn't have the same broken car physics though!)

Would love a third game, the atmosphere was great.

What? Are you saying that the loot crate infested, micro transaction laden, card system in NFS Payback doesn't scratch the TDU2 itch? :D
It's actually quite sad when in terms of actual gameplay when comparing them you see how little racing games have moved on.

Weirdly enough, it doesn't:p

I didn't play TDU2 much, only 1, but I wouldn't touch Payback with a bargepole. Forget not moving on, the series has actually regressed tremendously.

However, I think I have all the quality racing games I'll need for quite some time:p FH3 which is the closest thing to TDU and classic NfS so far and I'm still not done with it, WRC7 which has surpassed the massive pile of dog poo that is Dirt 4 and Forza 7 and GT Sport, both of which are good in their own ways. I'm all set:D

Old screenshot I just found in my docs - game could look quite good at times - would love it if they'd just give it a visual polish pass - maybe updated renderer to Vulkan, fixed the physics and overhauled missions, etc. with some fixes the on foot stuff would be pretty decent as well and lots of gameplay potential there.

this was one of my most played games ever i think, would be nice if some decent studio would buy the rights and start releasing.
