Reason why i ask is because i'm in need of a new HDTV for my office room, (watching tv,movies etc). BUT i want to double it up as a Pc monitor also. im sick of my 22inch monitor i find it too small and would like to increase my viewing distance anyway, and the higher res bigger monitors come at a cost.

I'm not really bothered about anything above 1080p gaming so i'd be happy with a hdtv that supports 1920 x 1080p res. I'm aware i need to be looking for a hd set with lowest possible input lag and a low response time, but not sure about the other details.

are there ppl out there whom use a hdtv set as a monitor? if so any advice?

TL;DR:
Buy a Philips 32PFL7606 and tell me if it was any good, so I'll know if I'll buy it, too.

Some extra reading, regarding PC 3D gaming with passive 3D HDTV:

This is relevant especially to the Philips, as it's a passive 3D HDTV. Apparently it's also applicable with active 3D HDTVs, though.

I had been using a Samsung P2770HD as my bedroom TV/Monitor for just over a year, paid £300 then....they're approx £240 now, I was pretty happy with the performance as an all in one combination, Xbox looked superb on it.

I recently had the opportunity to upgrade to a Samsung S27A950D 120hz 3D monitor which i'm now using instead.

Sold the other Sammy for silly money, should have kept it as a back up :'(
