I'm with Three and the signal in and around my house is terrible - most of the time I simply don't have a signal!

I know you can use the "Three inTouch" app but the reviews are less than stellar and I've seen mention of a box you can get from Three that supposedly gives you your very own personal 3G connection through your home broadband connection!

Has anyone tried this or know what (or if) it costs??

i have one, it was free on a 12month contract, i would have thought they would charge now as the app is out, had mine for 12 months now

Does it actually do the job then? From the reviews on the app it doesn't appear to be particularly reliable so I'd prefer a physical box if it's any better!?!?

its been fine, had to reset it a couple of times over the past year

Am I right in understanding that all it does is shunt your signal to be received via your broadband connection rather than "over the air"??

My signal drops to practically zero as soon as I walk into the house so I'm always wary of missing calls or texts but once I'm connected to my WiFi I'd receive calls and texts in the same way as usual? (ie. it's not like Skype etc where the caller/sender has to be using the same software - to them it's just like making a normal call or sending a normal text?)

its just like having full signal in the house, the only issue i have is when leaving the house the calls drop off as i have no service, just round the corners alls ok again

and yes all signal goes through the router

Had it for about a year and never used it. The clowns insisted I use it for maximum reception but the moment I found out it runs off your router I thought "what's the point?" as my phone uses Wifi anyway.

I have one, it's great I get barely any signal here. Yes it uses my router but I now get WiFi and cellular coverage at home. I am on £12 a month 30 day contract. The box cost me nothing on the understanding I give it back if/when I leave. Took a bit of getting they tried to get me to use their app. But there isn't one for windows phone so they sent me a box.

Calls and sms don't go over wifi though.

It basically creates a low power phone mast, it gives out 3G signal. It uses your internet connection to route the calls.

It somehow only gives signal to the numbers you enter into it, so random people will not be able to get a signal from it.

We use one at work as no phone signal on any network seems to get through the warehouse roof, it works perfectly.

I had frequent lost calls with the intouch app so I don't use it.

The range on my home signal box gives hsdp with pretty much the same range as my wifi but it does need restarting every few weeks as it seems to get stuck in disconnected mode with a red flashing light. I am on fibre with static internal ips..

I'm on giffgaff, is there something similar for O2 network as my new house has virtually no signal and this kind of thing seems ideal?

I have a home signal and away from home I use the intouch app. Totally different experiences, wheras the intouch is almost unuseable for phone the home signal is a joy. It connects by wifi to your router and you authorise which phones can be added to it - then if you need further ones added you can easily do this the process takes about 24 hours.

I have 3 three phones in the household - all work seamlessley and phone quality is good.

Intouch I use when I have no phone signal and is not much better than being able to tell a person you will call them back when you have a signal. The texting through it is good though

I've got one and it's brilliant. I get a full strength signal throughout the house. Whereas I got next to nothing on the bottom two floors before getting it.

I think that was more to do with the fact I was on a monthly rolling contract. I had to change to a 12 month to be eligible for the home signal.

I've had one for over a year and it's been great.

There is no signal in my flat whatsoever and this gives full signal throughout.

You don't need your phone to be connected via wifi to use it.

I had to phone them up to get it and jump through the usual hoops and questions to get them to put me through to the right people. Think it only took 20 minutes or so though and wasn't too painful.
