Does Battlefield 2 use Shader Model 3.0?

Just a quick question really. Does BF2 use shader model 3.0? I'm thinking of downgrading my PC and the one game I want to keep to battle against the gaming cravings is Battlefield 2. Its such a good fun game.

I was thinking of getting a 6800GT for my downgrade, but I might try and get a x850 XT if one comes up, but if BF2 uses SM 3 I might stick to the 6800GT.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Well I'm having a few problems with my eyes at the moment (dry eyes etc.) so looking at a monitor for long periods at a time isn't an option, plus I'm sort of getting a bit bored with gaming in general, so I might as well sell my rig and get some money for it instead of keeping it (keep an eye on MM for a 8800GT, 965P DS3, RAM + CPU + FAN, I'll be chucking them on soon).

Anyway, I'm chucking in my old 754 motherboard, so I need a card to play BF2. It will be coupled with a A64 3000 or thereabouts and 2 gig of DDR RAM. Previously played BF2with a 6800GT, but since upgrading It seems I was playing the game at a poor framerate and it flies along with my 8800GT, so I'm after a x850xt ideally, to up the framerates if possible. If I can't get an 850xt I'll get another 6800gt and lower the detail a bit.

Long live BF2!

I'm limited to AGP, should have said that at the beginning really, so my options are somewhat limited :(

Plus my CPU is at max A64 single core 3200, so anything above 6800GT/X850 XT might be overkill.

In an ideal world I'd say 'YES!' minstadave. but budget is quite limited so I might just go for a 6800gt off the bay. If a 850xt comes along I'd be interested, but they are quite rare at the mo and a bit more pricey.

What about a 1650pro? Seen one for £38 new. How does that compare to a 6800gt/7600gt?

edit - just seem tomsharware charts and the 7600gt is a clear winner over the 1650pro.

Ta.

Its alright I kept my current rig. I figured that to downgrade I'd probably have £100 in my back pocket, maybe less, and have a infinately inferior rig to boot. Current prices are crazily low for new gear now! 2gig of ddr pc3200 costs a fair bit on the bay at the moment.
