does connecting a playstation or xbox to a tv do any damage to it

You could get screen burn on old plasma's and really really old CRTs.

I can't imagine you'd damage anything you plugged one into now unless you were forcing things into the wrong sockets.

It is a rear projector tv. I was wondering if the kids are likely to destroy it?

Thanks. Just checking. Cuoldn't find anything by googling so it must be fine lol

When was this? Monitors are built the same way as TVs, so that makes no sense at all.
I'm not disputing that. I think there were a couple of purpose built monitors around but I can't remember when or who even built them. Maybe I am wrong.

I actually remember warnings for this exact thing in Mega Drive (Genesis to everyone outside of Europe) game manuals :)

Pay it no mind, its not true. Especially now :)

CRT technology can suffer from burn-in, when a static image is left on screen for an extended amount of time.

This is the reason we have (or rather had) screensavers. :)

Modern LCDs etc don't have this issue.

I think I am wrong about the purpose built monitors. Yes it was about the time of the Mega Drive.

lol my mum used to say to me not to play the playstation on the main tv because 'it doesn't do them any good'

what she meant was, i don't want wires everywhere ;p
