does cpu core clock affect fps by much

it depends on your GPU. If you have got a very high end GPU and your cpu is the bottleneck then you will most likely see some fps increase by increasing your core speed

On the same processor? A relatively low increase in clock speed is likely to have little impact.

That said, my move from 2.8GHz C2D to 4.6GHz SB made the difference in COD:BLOPS between it being unplayable and playable, but then it's known for being a CPU hungry game.

If your chip can do it, while keeping your temps cool, why not? However you've got a very good rig there already, I cannot think of a game you are not able to run already

Nothing i can't run yeah, but i do like my benchmarks :P will a higher clock help with teselation, as my card is ati its tess support isnt as good as nvidia
