Does cs:s support PhysX?

Yer nvidia brought it so they could use it on their graphics cards but i cant see that happening soon.

They've actually said they'll be able to implement it on 8800 series cards without any hardware changes. Which will be nice :)

Edit : Dude first the killer gaming nic and now this? If you really want to give your money away I can sell you an add in card that will align the electron flow in your memory matrix to exponentially increase power to your CPU via a complex series of interactions, probably involving tiny goblins with shovels. A steal at 200 quid.

And it'll still probably do more for your PC than either a Physx or gaming nic card :p

hehe, I've got a bunch of magnets you can eat..not sure if they'll do any good.

nvidia declared physx dead the week did they not? Not that it ever really took off anyway

No they didn’t in fact it more alive than it’s ever been. Support is increasing for physx and once its added to the GPU its should pull far ahead of the other physic engines.

“No its doesent, i think it uses the Havok physics engine in the source engine.“
There was a mod for HL that use’s PhysX. Not sure if it works with CS:S but you can use physx with Half Life.

I wouldn't call it more alive than ever. Physics in game engines has a very unclear future atm, especially with Intel buying out havok.

Well..something on the nvidia declared something dead, perhaps Aegia?

As long as this works better than the video decoding support in my series 6 card, I'll be happy...

lol, I remember that..

"all 6 and 7 series cards. apart from that 6800GT you have. mwuhahahaha"

It was worse than that - all the 6 series cards aside from the plebby ones didn't work for it. Seem to recally dodgy problems on the 7 series too. Nvidia are the Creative of the graphics card world...

“But the actual add-in card you've been telling us is the second coming for months now is dead”
I never said the addin card is the second coming, what I said was its not needed for most people. It’s not dead, any new versions are dead the current one is alive and still supported. In fact it might gain support due to GPU physics.

There is a big difference between a new version being dead and the current one being dead.

Intel dropped GPU physics from havok causing various games to drop Havok FX. For hardware physics on the GPU or addin card physx is the only option.

Right now it looks like physx is beating Havok Once GPU phsics arrive that should push Phsyics ahead of Havok if it isn’t aready.

Not really. All we're going to end up in is a format war akin to dvd/blu-ray. Until one wins it's an uncertain future that will usually lead to 50% of the early adopters being screwed.

Nvidia's graphics lead could well stop once the new Intel and/or AMD gpu stuff hits the shelves...they're a company with an uncertain future (too).
