Does cube gen10 microserver (HP) need an PWM fan signal correction?

My server has started to become a bit loud. I am thinking about changing the fan over, I read around a bit and read that HP just messed around with the wiring - added an extra ground. but the wirring is essentially the same as PWM. However they have inversed the PWM signal so the computer calls for higher rpm when it's hotter but their signal is inversed and their stock fan works with it.

If it's the same on the v2 gen10+ and the gen10 cube then it would mean that if you just do a fan swap then as the unit gets hotter it will send a signal to the fan to reduce speed.

I'm unable to find out if this is the case with the gen10 cub becasue all the information out there seems to refer to gen10+ (the short and wide version)

Help would be very much appreciated.

A lot of information on inverting the PMW fan signal is really technical and there's no easy step by step DIY guide to do it. It's a bit frustrating. I am temptied to just throw the towel in and replace it with a HP stock fan - I recall it wasn;t as noisy as it is now so that might be the move,
