Hi

Personally I would change the PSU to a Corsair PSU and also add a seperate heatsink/fan combo something like the freezer pro or the turniq tower, this will mean if you ever need to overclock it would be extremely easy, I can clock my E6600 to 3.24ghz with temps staying amazingly low and without any vcore changes using a freezer.

Personally im not a fan of the geil ram, Im a corsair fan, never once had a problem with corsair memory. Does it really need a seperate sound card?

Thanks for the reply i was going to see about adding the turniq on top of there before but not really sure if he wants to overclock yet but he'd be mad not to with C2D.

Reasoning behind a seperate sound card is cause he's an avid music listener of .FLAC files ripped from his cds. I thought this may make his sound more pleasureable than a normal onboard sound card, It sure does with mine & i'm only using an Audigy 2.

I will ask him tonight about dropping the sound card in aid of some better memory. Will take a look into the PSU too but from my experience with Enermax it has been great even their RMA is flawless.

Thanks to stelly as well the only thing i'm concerned about really is the Hard Drive working with the DS4 does it support SATAII? cause theres no mentioning of it?

Hi

Your quite correct, enermax powersupplies are great, personally im a tagan user but enermax are good, so is corsair and I cant say ive head a problem with seasonics too.

Personally I would change to a different heatsink & fan and also try and get as best memory as you can, it does make a difference. Also he will notice a difference with the soundcard which does make it harder as it eats up the money which could have been used on the memory.

At the end of the day though its a nice rig and should all work well together.

Out of interest why do ppl still buy sound cards? i mean i'v been using on board for few years now and my Asus one has i think 7.1 surround sound, Optical out etc.

dont most mobos these days have that stuff or does the Xfi soundcard offer something that most high end on board doesnt offer?

Basically if i'm correct in saying so it takes some of the load off the cpu, Although thats not an issue no more due to dual cores & so on. The clarity of sound from a sound card is also noticeable to me with my Audigy 2 & my Ledtek High Def 7.1 onboard. The sound card giving the better quality.

I've now added a Tuniq onto the priceup & will talk to him about some of the other stuff when he comes round tonight.
