Does Exclusive Content bother you?

Lots of talk about the various next gen consoles getting exclusive content here and there with multiplatform games (whether it's first access DLC or an hour or so extra content)

I remember I used to get pretty frustrated by this tactic but looking back I can't remember a single game that was really affected by it! Some examples:

SSX (2013) had something extra on PS3, can't for the life of me remember what it was though so it can't have been that important.

Deus Ex HR had a 5 minute mission.

Some games coming with extra items etc that are usually swapped out in the first 20/30 mins of an RPG.

So what do you think? Are these 'exclusive content' things just a meaningless bullet point or does this affect your console purchase?

Not really, I couldnt give a monkeys about an extra gun or outfit etc. Extra game content on the other hand is a different matter, it wont immediately make me side with the other console maker though, it'll just make me a bit miffed that im missing out.

Puts me off getting either one sometimes, a game was mentioned yesterday that has an extra hours worth of content for one of the consoles. Can't remember which one now.

Exclusive content bothers me. Simply because 9 times out of 10 the content is rubbish and adds no real additional enjoyment.

Watch Dogs I think. I just remember I think some of the AC's had a similar thing and I wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't been told. The extra content usually just feels very copy pasted from other content.

Not when it's just extra skins or minor other things that don't really change the game. If they release whole new levels/area/maps etc it can be quite annoying to miss out.

Doesn't matter to me, some of the content is just ridiculous - getting an exclusive outfit for buying game x on console y is pointless.

I dislike it, it's a waste of money and time that just kicks other gamers in the teeth for owning a different platform. I don't find it the worst thing ever (that would be timed exclusives as they are a real waste of money) but the only time I like it is when they give exclusive content that makes sense (like adding a character that is from an exclusive franchise to that platform) or they even it out and give everyone something unique (like soul calibur) but dont like it when it's simply the case that one owner is screwed over and one isn't. Fair enough if it's making use of unique features (like when PS2 had no hard drive but Xbox did) but otherwise it's just a slap in the face to some.

Usually it's not too big a deal but I do find that kind of thing irksome at times.

Remember that half the so called exclusives on Xbox One aren't exclusives they're just not appearing on PS4. Plenty of them are coming to PC as well.

Look again most are never coming to PC as the XB1 exclusives use XB1 Cloud Computing to store some of the game & render content. MS also co-publish all the exclusives now so they have final say on porting or not........

The only ones coming to PC are the DX9 current gen ports with some DX11 features like we already get :(

MS ensured this time PC ports were not an option for any exclusives they are not timed as the PC does not have the same XB1 Cloud Computing resource to use so that kills console piracy & forces XB1 purchases.

no it doesn't, even on the same console depending where you get the game from on pre-order your tend to get exclusive bonuses anyway.

Thus far, the games that I've bought that have had exclusive content (or indeed not had that content, on the flip side of the coin) have never bothered me particularly. Most of the time that exclusive "content" adds very little value to the overall experience.

Having said that, I do miss the "good ole' days" as it were, when you bought a game, and you knew you were getting the same experience as everyone else.

Not true. At the moment there are 16 'exclusives' announced on Xbox One, of which 3 have confirmed PC releases (or equivalents like Minecraft)

PS4 has 18 confirmed 'exclusives' of which 10 are coming to or already on PC.

So which console has more 'exclusives' that are actually PC as well?
