Hi all. Apologies for the dumb question but I'm finding it difficult to get a definitive answer.
So my mother is getting Infinity, assuming 40mb, and it seems that these days its all done as self install and bundled with a HH5.
The thing is though the master sockets is not near any power and would be messy and inconvenient to run a mains extension.
So, is it still a no no to run it from a different extension socket?

Cheers

ok thanks Tealc. Not bothered about a loss of speed tbh (within reason). Sounds like its at least worth a go then before trying to get the master socket sorted.

'Fibre' is self-install now so doesn't mean that every socket other than the master becomes unusable for an Internet connection like it used to. However, the requirements for high-quality internal wiring that people strived for with ADSL haven't gone away, they just got glossed over for a few years when every FTTC install involved isolating the Internet signal from the internal wiring.

The higher frequencies and higher data rates in use mean that the penalty for having shoddy wiring is now higher in terms of Mbps of throughput than it was previously. If you don't fancy wiring in new extensions then the best you can do is isolate the ring wire and use good quality filters.

We have multiple sockets in our flat. And it works on any of them and I have not noticed any speed drop.

However if I have the broadband come through a non master and the phone rings then the connection is lost.
