Does folding at home support dual core?

I'm assuming you're running Windows, right?

In that case, you have three choices:

1) Install a second console client.
2) If you have a recent AMD64/EM64T processor, download VMWare Server (free), Ubuntu 64-bit Linux (free), and use the Linux SMP client.
3) Wait for the native Windows 32-bit SMP client.

I would obviously recommend options 1 and 2 - 1 for easy, 2 for adventurous. Taking the non-easy option has it's benefits (points). :)

You need to run two console clients. Theres a section in the sticky about it. You simply make two folders, CPU1 and CPU2 for example, and stick a client in each, setting one up as machine id 1, the other as machine id 2. The machine ids stop the clients interfering with eachother.

Welcome aboard. Don't forget team number 10 in the setup ;)

Edit: stupid 'serker lol.
Meh, the more info the better :)

Wheres the advanced settings?

I've installed another copy to a different directory but it just says only 1 copy may run at a time. The people who made this program certainly don't try to make it easy to donate to them!

Read the guide that's in the second 'sticky'. It sounds like you've given both instances the same machine ID. Stanford do make it easy but you need to RTFM.

Thats more like it. :)

Does it not update your progress in real time in the dos window?

Because it still says completed 0 of 500,000 steps 0%.

As SS said this is how it should be. It will probably take about a day to crunch such a WU.
