Does FPS even matter?

I am confused seeing as the eye can't see more than about 30fps, is there any point in being able to get more than this? Eg: If you are getting 32 fps and you run from point A to point B, will you get to point B any slower than if you were getting 125 fps?

Oh, sorry, my ignorance But back to my original question, running at 30 fps and running at 125, would you get to point b quicker?

How did you come to find out that 30 fps was all the eye can see ?

Can't remember, read it somewhere on this forum, I think, not sure

I'm wondering how much influence a varying fps has on our perception of smoothness, hence the reason we all like to have V-sync on.

So a game that has an average of 45fps that fluctuates between 40 and 50 could appear choppier than a 30fps game on vsync?

I dont know why some people think the eye can only see around 60FPS... it can see hundreds, this has been proven and is well known by anyone who knows anything about eyes or the human brain.
