Does FX8350 really not cut it anymore ?

In BF4 on high settings the cores on my 8320E (clocked to 4Ghz) run from between 75 & 95%. My R290 runs at 100%.

So both are pretty well matched.

Performance on Dolphin is much better on Intel CPUs. I don't understand why anyone would dispute it...

I'd not be in a rush to move away from an FX8350, but if the main usage of my PC was for Dolphin, I'd be eyeing up a Skylake/Haswell-E upgrade.

I don't think I would ever build my system around one game. In general though I think this thread has answered the topic well enough.

Which is more likely to mean the 5820k is benefiting from the fresh install of windows, better configuration, driver and patch differences. ;)

A amd 8350 overclocked to 5ghz is exactly the same in dolphin as a 3570k at stock.

Firstly. I can't tell whether or not your defending the FX performance (Not that what you've posted could ever quantify as an infallible defence)

Secondly, the benchmark isn't exactly an accurate game by game take of things, so it's standing might not be the real world. That said, I don't know how real world performance is, I expect poor though

I always cringe when people shout "bottleneck", there is always a bottleneck in any given system..always.

As for requiring at least a haswell cpu for Dolphin, that is complete nonsense.
Op you are in no way bottlenecked there in all honesty.

Usage is dependent on game played first of all, for instance I run a 3770k @4.8 and a gtx 980. My max cpu usage in games like guild wars 2 hits 100% no problem whereas my gpu usage could be around 60% tops.
Your gpu is not "bottlenecking" either as others stated here, 70% cpu usage and 100% gpu usage sounds like a well optimized game imho.

My 8320 is still effortlessly cutting it. So should your 8350.

I've tried convincing myself many times that it's upgrade time but there's no game out there (and I have them all) that don't play at max settings with no hiccups.

Exactly the same as this. Will upgrade for new gen I expect but right now I'm having no issues at all.

I don't think anyone has claimed a Haswell is a requirement, but, in regards to Dolphin, an overclocked Intel would offer a good performance increase.

It sounds like a case of money burning a hole in the pocket. I'd typically agree with all the "don't upgrade" comments, but some people just have the upgrade bug. :P

Going my own experience, others could be different depending on what game they are playing on it.

The first sentence was a complete and utter fallacy though. As in it flies in the face of actual facts.

If you notice no difference between an Intel and AMD chip using PCSX2 then I'd be concerned for you.

Probably because I'm not the sort of person who sits front of a computer and looks at FPS all day when playing my games.

And I meant these wasn't MUCH of a difference in relation to Dolphin, never tried PCSX2.
