Does getting games through promotions still support the dev's?

I'm about to get a new graphics card and it comes with a Witcher 3 code, but I was just wondering do you think the developers still count this code as a game sale and are they making money from it?

Kind of a weird question I know, but im a big advocate of putting your money in the things you want, so you can support them as much as possible.

How do you think they get the codes? It would be some big deal and the devs will get whatever cut they agree to.

Yea a big deal they have sorted out with nVidia i imagine! Got mine this way too, roll on tuesday

if you want to support the devs pirate the game and send them a cheque for the full amount cutting out the publishers

The extra exposure also helps the devs - more people playing a game usually leads to more people seeing the game and wanting to play and/or if it has an online component means the game is populated with more active players for longer.
