Basically, we have split one of our group websites and I am now redirecting to necessary areas to the new site.

Its only been live 4 days so I may be a bit premature, but Google bot has visited and found my robots.txt but my site isnt being indexed.

Do I need to submit for a reconsideration?

This URL has for a long-time been used to redirect people to the group site.

Any help is much appreciated.

Do you have a sitemap for this URL ?

Google is and always has been fickle, some of my sites, especially FLASH sites and dynamically generated ones need an xml map for it to read and index correctly.

I did the same thing last week, Google still says the site isn't indexed in the webmasters' tools but if I do a site:example.com then data is slowly appearing. I did also re-submit the URL to Google.

Add a sitemap too as Google downloaded that several times before data started appearing in the search. http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

If you've read the Google web guidlines and yiou fulfill everything then you should be fine.

I had the same problem with a site recently, Google fully indexed the site after a week or so. I've also found Google really like html site maps so it may be worth creating one of those too.

Ah, Ive done the same as Pho already. Resubmitted manually and added an xml sitemap. Suppose I am just being impatient.

Might try a html site map too. Cheers for the advice.
