Does GTA IV support Crossfire?

Thinking of possibly buying another 6970 for some crossfire loving!

Thanks for the reply ebilcake. I can't seem to find any benchmarks online to show performance increases from Crossfire - is it by much or just a couple of FPS do you know?

It'd be great to hear from someone who has Crossfire and GTA IV!

Surely some of you must have these two running together??!!

i have 2 x 5870's playing GTA 4 and it runs at max settings @ 1920.1080! runs totally smooth and silky, lovin it i also have the gta files all at the edge of the raid hard drives so access is fastest to streamline loading.

It's been a while since I ran gta4, but iirc, it doesn't give a amazing boost. It's noticiable, but not the massive difference you see in some games. Maybe 20-30% increase.

Still.... two 6970's should kill it. I ran it at full settings, driver level AA, and mods to increase the number of pedestrians.

I've got the Episodes From Liberty City and on my 5970 it only showed up as one 5870 with 1024MB resources.

Its video ram you need for GTA 4 to play all on full, at least 1.2GB

Yeah I've got enough VRAM with 6950 xfire
I just want to know how to utilise both cards

I'm running 2 x 5870 (10.3, 850/1200) with a 980X @ 4GHz, and I get 67 fps in the built-in benchmark. By disabling CrossfireX, I get 53 fps in the built-in benchmark. imo CrossfireX is supported, but not sure if 6000 series with latest driver could bring more efficiency.

That's because a standard 5970 is simply a pair of 5870 at the frequency of 5850. According to how CrossfireX works nowadays, Each GPU only have access to 1GB, which is the bottleneck to prevent us maxing out everything in GTA4.
