I got a new headset for the first time in about a year today, and I have had probably the best game of Counter-Strike: Source ever. :p

It began at around half nine where someone named 'duracell' entered the server, and everyone was having a laugh with him about how he lasts longer than all of us. Then he was constantly flashing his torch around bragging about how it had Duracell batteries. :p

Then we had a few more rounds, and a few more maps, and it came to Inferno. We were Terrorists, and there was a guitar playing from behind a door. So I sprayed a picture of myself playing a gig on it, and we all pretended it was a concert.

And people were making comments like "Oi! Down in front." and what not, and we were all in tears of laughter. :p

Then we all rocked the vote to Assault, and we were on CT. We were getting owned so badly that everyone (meaning ~eleven people) followed me to the exploit. Then we spent the rest of the map making towers of people to try and reach high places. Someone from our team got switched to T, so we let him come out and fight with us. :p :D

It was just so much fun. I usually have fun on CSS, but with a microphone, it's just sooooooooo much better. So good, in fact, that me and Benjo got off about half an hour ago. :o

EDIT: Whoops, that could be read wrong. I mean, we got off of CSS about half an hour ago.

Has a microphone increased your gaming experience?

PS Not liking the bald smilies. :(

it does help

joined a server the other day and we was all telling dirty jokes - there was quite a young guy in there who said "im laughing but i dont get it" was so funny, and being sarcastic we said "how old are you, shouldn't you be in bed" - he actually answered "no i've got till 9pm before bed" lol

It was a good laugh, and the kid was funny!

Lmao. :p :D

We had a session on Nuke where we all had to quote Quagmire when we killed somone. :p

So we constantly had "Giggity giggity giggity giggity let's have sex" and "Aalllrriggghhttt." :D

My friend used a software called Voice buddy (i think) its got nothing to do with talking to each other, but, its a cool piece of software where you assign voices to guns, so you say... 'Handgun', or 'Greanade' and it switches to those weapons.
Its good for games where you have loaads of weapons.

How anyone can hold a conversation on the ingame voice comms is beyond me. If you can understand what they are saying they sound like Metal Micky. But yeah voice is better when you can talk to people you are playing with, does get a bit of gettting used to though, felt a bit odd at first.

Who remembers Roger Wilco! :D

It's rather ironic you've brought this up. After years of playing CS, my best mate persuaded me to buy one for TF2 and it should be a blast. Ordered a Logitech digital usb one. Give me a shout on msn next time naffa :)

Oh, I can also show you my lame guitar skills! Hey it's getting better!

It makes them a bit better from a TP perspective, but it's not as much fun as being in the same room.

I do enjoy doing live commentaries on big matches though.

Yeah, I got a ehadset for christmas and althought I always loved ET:QW - it's even better now, as you can talk instead of typing and it leads to greater teamplay

I didnt have a mic for some time, now I cant imagine a world where im not aloud to talk to other players in games.

Its vital!

i never used to use a mic until i got into match playing for Americas Army, helps a lot as there isnt any time to type :)
just got my first ever decent surround headset but cant use it yet coz my new build doesnt work lol

I've spent over 2 years having a Blast with strangers in my squad on BF2. I never play with regular people & just play with randoms. The voip makes this possible as within a few minutes you are chatting/laughing & shouting your face off having a great time.
Getting your whole squad to teabag another squad after you have wasted them all is Hilarious & it's great to hear everyone else having as much fun as you.
I even had some lad call his brother in from another room the other night to watch & have a laugh.
Personally i think comms are Essential to good online gaming, not only for tactics but for laughs as well.

I think having a mic and comms makes team games better :)

It can have its let-downs sometimes tho like people constantly moaning & blocking comms for everyone else or people being abusive, but overall in a proper team it really have it's bonuses. I remember on quake2+quake3 when we started using roger wilco for the first time, it seemed so much different and better.

The one (audio related) thing that improved counterstrike source for me tho was getting a 5.1 headset :D

Mine's just a £20 Logitech stereo one. :p

And I see you're from Somerset, where abouts? ;)

Is 'abouts' even a word?
