As a dual monitor user. I've always wondered, does having my second monitor on (doing nothing) affect the FPS in game? I usually turn it off for immersion but sometimes it's handy for maps and stuff.

It depends on your rig.

I used to have 4 screens, and I upgraded to a 4k middle monitor so dsr'd the other three to 4k.

On gtav I noticed a very slight drop but nothing major.

I now just have 2 screens, both 4k and I keep them on all the time as I jeep discord/obs/spotify/browser and a few other things for twitch - all good :)

Yes, your machine still has to render that screen from what ive read. I have had the same problem but with a real bad GPU. It was even worse when I had a web page open on the 2nd monitor - definite FPS drop. Keep in mind this was on equipment back when I had gtx270! You shouldn't notice the drop at all looking at ur PC specs.

If what is happening on the second screen requires effort on the part of the GPU (YouTube, website with lots of flashy add), you might notice a difference - especially if your card defaults to "playing video" clocks rather than "gaming" clocks by mistake.

If you're just having the second screen sat at desktop, or something that doesn't need horsepower such as Notepad, then you'll notice no difference at all. I've tried my fourth screen on my GPU and on my Intel onboard, and there was no noticeable difference in games. It's a bit like having a passenger in your Ferrari during a racetrack lap - technically it'll be slower than without, but you'd need very precise measurements to actually find it.
