Does it always take this long to install?

Downloading my free PS Plus games onto my PS3. Once downloaded, the big 12-13GB ones can take up to hour to install. Is this normal?

Thanks, just checking the hard disk wasn't a duffer or somerthing. It would be so bad if you then didn't have to do a 2GB update afterwards :-)

Yes it's normal. It's something Sony really to sort out for the PS4. Downloading, updating and installing anything on the PS3 takes far too long.

Downloading is fine. Only takes a few seconds for me. It's the install that frustrates me as it's way to slow.

They've already said it'll be much quicker.

In the console settings, you can set what time it turns on and what it downloads.

It is slow unfortunately. Mostly I set the install then go do something else for a bit.

As far as I am aware, when it automatically downloads something, when it finishes it then automatically installs it for you. It does for patches at least, I assume the same for games.

System Settings, they'll have the + icon next to them.

Found it thanks, I'd dismissed it initially as it didn't mention about installing games. Should hopefully install the new ones tonight.

I think you can start downloading a load of games and set the console to shut down when finished which also installs the games as well.
