Quick question.

Was in a hotel in the USA (Boston) and in my room they only had wired Internet access (no wifi). So only devices that use a network cable can be connected.

Thing is I travel with and use my iPod Touch 4G for email and Internet etc and as it only connects wirelessly I was a bit stuffed.

Then I got to thinking, is there an adapter out there I can travel with that plugs into a RJ45 port and transmits a wireless signal that I can pick up on my iPod? Does such a thing even exist? And if so where?

Ok so maybe that's more than one question, but maybe someone can enlighten me.

Cheers,

PC.

there is a way to broadcast the wifi from your laptop, have a little google about for it, you can run the net off the lan for your laptop and have your own wifi network from your laptop

It sounds like you want a wireless router.

Try Googling 'travel wireless router' and you should find quite a few. The main complication is probably making sure the power supply is suitable for the USA.

You need a wireless access point, but this will be against hotel policy as you are wirelessly broadcasting their LAN.. If they wanted wireless access they would have wireless access.

It may not be against policy, it maybe that they simply haven't invested in wifi hardware. Best thing is to check with the hotel and see what they say. If they say it's not a problem, simply plug a preconfigured access point in.

No harm in asking but I would think it is against policy
