Ambiguous title lol, im currently upgrading me system with an asus p8p67 pro b3 and plan on putting my old xfx 5870 in there along with my PCI asus xonar d2 soundcard.

The problem is if i choose to go crossfire with my 5870, will the two PCI express 8x slots being used cover all the PCI slots?.

Also if it did fit would it lead to any heat problems

I think you can squeeze it into the 1st PCI slot possibly, depends where the fan is on the card. Hopefully someone with the stuff can confirm

If it doesn't fit, could always sell up for a PCI-E card.

You can get the sound card fitted into the middle PCI slot(1st) easily, The 5870 are dual slots, so the top one will cover the PCI-E 1X slot directly below it.

You wont have any heat issues either, I doubt the sound card is even as long as the 5870 graphics card so the fan on it wont be restricted in anyway.

the pci slots are directly benith each of the pci express 16 slots, will be a squeeze but will fit
