Apparently you're meant to put your ram in the coloured matching slots..

I currently don't have mine matching colours and its working fine...

So does it really matter?

the colours divide the seperate channels.

if you have 2 ram sticks and put them in the same channel, they will run in dual channel mode giving them a performance boost

On some boards, your system will not even boot if you don't use the correct slots. P55s for example.

So, yes, it matters for multiple reasons.
