Hi all,
so, take the rig in my sig; i upgraded the psu from 450w to 600w cos i went from a 7850 to the gtx970.
I've been reading a few things lately and there are those that think any mitx gaming rig shouldn't need more than 400w of power. Mainly cos you'll never get a multi-pgu setup in a mitx case.
I ask, because i built a friend the same rig as mine, and now he want to upgrade from his 7850 to a 970, but only has enough money for the card. then i remembered that i upgraded my psu too.
Could he get away with his 450w psu. Its a quality Silverstone one.

What are you thoughts please?

Thanks

It would depend on the rest of his rig.

a 970 alone is fine on 450 as long as hes not running an overclocked 6 core x99 system fully loaded with memory and big hard drives.

A stock clocked 4 core i5 with 8gb and a couple of ssd's though and it should be ok
