Does MB or CPU limit memory speeds on AMD Ryzen

Just wondering what limits memory speed on Ryzen based systems. Is it my X370 Asus Prime Pro, or my Ryzen 1600 CPU?

If my current system only lets me go to 2400mhz stable, but if I switch the CPU to a Ryzen 3000, will the memory run 3000mhz+ or will the Asus X370 mobo limit that?

thanks.

Assuming your bios is up to date it is a combination of the cpu lottery and the type / speed of ram you buy. X370 motherboards are unlikely to be the restriction.
Great, I will probably keep my x370 board then and go for a 3700X when they come out. Hopefully it will have better memory support than my rather poor 1600
